Geoff Watts, Landmark Harcourts South East SA reports that the auction held Thursday 15th December at Naracoorte was a roaring success.
A crowd of approximately 45 people gathered in the Naracoorte Cricket clubrooms to witness the offering.
The properties were offered on behalf of the Goldfinch family who have held the land since 1957.
The first property offered was “The Granites”, a 410 Ha grazing property with a 32 Ha centre pivot and water licence. Bidding started at $1.5Mwith 2 parties having a fair set -to, which saw it rise to $2.3 M very quickly in $20,000 bids, then once the 3 calls came in bidding started again to finish up at $2,780,000.00
Large applause followed and the new owners who are each taking approximately half of the property are John & Hannah Orton and Trevor Day and Family.
Up next was the main holding “Narabyn” of 924 Ha of rising cropping and grazing land with 12 Ha of flood irrigation, well-appointed with good shedding and a 5 bedroom homestead, internal roadways, well-watered and fenced.
Geoff Watts started the ball rolling with a Vendors bid at $2.3 million and it steadily progressed from there with 2 parties bidding to see it slowly rise to a final knockdown of $2,825,000.00
The identity of the buyer is not clear at this stage, as it was purchased by a party as a Nominee for someone else - all will be revealed soon.
The Goldfinch family were delighted with the outcome and are to be commended for how they presented the property.
